Remote Working 101

With the current state of things, many companies had to revert to working remotely. This has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for people. Even though they’re working for a large company, they can still be with their kids and family. Many moms and dads are doing a lot of things, right now, and working remotely has helped them keep up. Companies are seeing the benefits of this new wave of work. They find their people more productive and potentially, less stressed out.

There are other perks of working remotely.

~Increased flexibility

~Ability to work when you want (if you don’t have a corporate job)

~Literally working anywhere (Coffee shop, etc)

~Being able to be home with loved ones, when needed

~Possibly not having to dress for work.

This can change, depending on the company

Those are just a few of the perks. There are many more reasons, but we will cover them soon. Keep your eyes open! In the meantime, one cannot talk about remote work without talking about the need to be a self-starter. You have to be ready to do the work and do it well. Try to keep distractions to a minimum and focusing can be an obstacle. Here are a few ways to overcome that.

~Set a specific work area aside, in your home

~Close the door and turn off the ringer on your phone.

~Limit distractions from others, in the work area, if you can

Those are just a few options. Basically, it comes down to creating an environment that is not just functional, but also comfortable. It’s a delicate balance, to be sure. If you really want to work the remote lifestyle though, you will find the setup that works for you. Once you do that, you set yourself up for success.
